Reach the Heights

Welsh European Funding OfficeUnitas is pleased to announce an exciting professional development opportunity for practitioners and volunteers who are currently working with, or seeking to work with, young people who are

  • not in education, training or employment (NEET)
  • at risk of becoming NEET
  • underachieving.

The training is of particular value to those working with groups of young people who are hard to engage, such as those in the youth justice system, or where work takes place outside of a formal education environment.

The training has been designed to provide an opportunity for practitioners to explore how they can work more effectively with the target group of young people. The use of the arts as a tool for engagement is included in the training.

The training combines:

  • a one-day workshop, led by experienced trainers, which examines the challenges of re-engaging young people who have become disengaged from education and develops skills and strategies for working with young people
  • access to online training which provides additional resources and information through which participants can further explore the ideas raised by the workshop
  • provision of a resource pack which can be used to plan sessions that motivate young people and support their learning.

This professional development opportunity is available to practitioners across the Wales Convergence area. Participants can achieve a Level 2 accreditation.

Workshops will take place on:

  • Tuesday 24 April 2012 in Cardiff
  • Tuesday 29 May 2012 in Aberystwyth
  • Wednesday 27 June 2012 in Caernarfon.

Two further events will be held in the autumn of 2012.

Places are limited, so register soon!
