Sounds Good Practitioner Pack

Sounds Good Practitioner Pack

Let your students live the dream! Over a flexible number of sessions, learners develop the story of a fictional band. From the band’s creation through to achieving fame and fortune they will:

  • choose band members
  • plan tours
  • create marketing materials
  • write a song lyric
  • work out costs of putting on an event
  • record a radio interview.

The Sounds Good programme contains a practitioner handbook, a CD-ROM and a pack of cards. The handbook is a step-by-step guide to running the programme and is presented as a series of session plans. The activities in each session are mapped to the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Curriculum. The CD-ROM provides a range of interactive games, activities and tools. A set of 40 character cards is provided for young people to choose their band members.

We have been working with Agored Cymru (formerly OCN Wales) to produce accreditation for this revised version of Sounds Good: the Story of a Band. Units at Entry Level 3 have been mapped to the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Curriculum and are now available in the Agored Cymru database. Details of the accreditation can be found in the unit lists on the website at www.agored.org.uk. Units at Level One are currently being written for Sounds Good and will be available soon.

This programme has been prepared for the Welsh Assembly Government. It is based on the original enrichment resource developed by ECOTEC Research and Consulting Ltd and artists on behalf of the Arts Council England and the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales
