About Us

Unitas is a national charity that helps young people access, participate and progress in, mainstream education and training.

We support artistic and cultural activity as a way of engaging young people in mainstream life. When a young person has become detached from learning, art and other creative activities can be a powerful way of getting them back into education, training or employment.

Unitas designs, manages and funds innovative national programmes for young people at risk of social exclusion. These programmes are implemented by practitioners who work with young people including youth offending teams, schools and learning support units within schools and further education colleges.

Unitas has worked with over 1500 young people and one-third of local authorities and youth offending teams. In 2009 alone, Summer Arts Colleges took place at 35 sites and worked with 399 young people, and 50 sites and 430 young people participated in TextNow® throughout 2008-09.
